Good evening, friends!
Welcome! Here on the blog, we're spending the month preparing a Holiday Planner to help organize everything for the fall & winter holidays. If you are new to this 31 day series, check out my beginning post...
Creating A Holiday Planner in 31 Days!
So did anyone find some great Autumn books to read after yesterday's post? Today I wanted to help fill out your Thanksgiving To-Do lists with some of our family's favorite Thanksgiving-themed books! Our Thanksgiving Book Basket is getting ready in the wings, coming out next month for turkey day month ;)
We have a 2.5 yro toddler in the house who, thankfully, loves to read! I have to confess that I'm a stickler for beautiful illustrations, even in children's books, or perhaps especially in children's books! However, some of these books I did pick out with purely my toddler's favorite things in mind. We were moving at Thanksgiving last year, so we don't have a huge stockpile yet, but I plan to rectify that next month ;) So! Without further ado, let me share my list with you! In no particular order...

Happy Thanksgiving, Biscuit! by Alyssa Satin Capucilli
Another of the books in the Biscuit series. A big hit with our little one, especially since there's big flaps on every page for her to turn! The list goes through all the fun preparations before a big Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. These books are great for toddlers young and old.
This First Thanksgiving Day by Laura Krauss Melmed
A great book to work on counting in a fun way! I really love the illustrations in this book. My wee one loves finding all of the wildlife hiding on each page :) The story highlights preparations and fun had on the very first Thanksgiving, as traditionally told (I can't guarantee it's at all historically accurate!).
The Very First Thanksgiving Day by Rhonda Gowler Greene
The story highlights key aspects of the first Thanksgiving, as traditionally told (I can't guarantee all of the historical accuracy, however it's a bit more historical than the above book I think). The sing-song cumulative text builds on the text of the previous page. A cute book especially for the older toddler.
Those are the books that we currently own and enjoy, again, not a very long list, YET! Below are some additional books that are on our wish list to get either later this month or next year. Do you own any of these? Are they favorites in your family? Do you have any favorites that I missed? I hope today's post has inspired you to add a few of these books to your Thanksgiving lists of things to do, or pick up other holiday books that catch your eye!
